Recommended : White Sesame Bagel
Elegant enough for high tea, easy enough for a Tuesday. Cream cheese, NZ smoked salmon, capers, and fresh dill.
What You'll Need
- 1 Original Bagel Off bagel
- 3–4 tbsp cream cheese (full fat, room temperature)
- 60g smoked salmon
- 1 tbsp capers
- ¼ red onion, thinly sliced
- Fresh dill (optional)
- ½ lemon
- Freshly cracked black pepper
Method
- Slice your bagel in half and toast until golden and slightly crisp on the cut side.
- Spread cream cheese generously on both halves — don't be shy.
- Layer smoked salmon over the bottom half.
- Scatter capers and red onion over the salmon.
- Add fresh dill if using, squeeze over a little lemon juice, and finish with cracked black pepper.
- Press the top half on and eat immediately.
Tips
The key is room temperature cream cheese — it spreads cleanly without tearing the bagel. And always toast the cut side down in a dry pan rather than a toaster for a better crust.
